About the project (provided by the applicant)
The key sources of inspiration in this project were the modernist architecture and rich history of the place. First of all, the designers concentrated on recovery of the initial architectural features (like the floating stairs) and materials (like sandstone, marble, and parquet flooring). As the designers felt enthusiastic of the Soviet era’s aesthetics, they repeated a cold color palette of the facades in the interior design. At the same time, the Murmansk Region is located in the north and can’t help but take borrow some things from Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. That’s why Nordic combinations of grey, white, and red look kind of typical for the locals, and so it was decided to leave them as is. The furniture can be referred as neutral – light wooden chairs, renewed arm chairs and sofas don’t change the spirit of the interior, but make it more up-to-date.
