Aalloa Hills, a net-zero residence, embodies sustainability & minimalist aesthetics. Located on a plateau over Sabarmati Riverside, the bright white structure is hoisted on pilotis like a high Machan, with expansive shaded verandahs. A ramp connects staff quarters to the main house, gradually revealing the valley panorama. Geometric precision merges the built & open, allowing light, air & nature to permeate.
The residence uses sun-dried bricks, a white exterior for minimal heat absorption & black stone tiles for thermal mass. Low-e double-glazed windows, sun breakers & china-mosaic roof ensure comfort for 9 months without airconditioning. The east-facing veranda serves as a sunscreen by day & an outdoor haven in mornings & evenings. Breezes over waterbodies cool the house, while rainwater harvesting conserves water. Existing vegetation & new plantations support biodiversity & enrich the ecological habitat. Minimalist black-&-white interiors celebrate the landscape & artwork year-round.
