The project involves the demolition and reconstruction for seismic and energy adaptation of two condominium buildings. The lot, rectangular in shape, is located in the heart of the city, within the squared texture of the building fabric of Avezzano after the 1915 earthquake. The adjacencies with other realities, the prevalent length of the blind fronts and the view of the bell tower of the Cathedral are all founding elements of the architectural composition. From a compositional point of view, the prismatic volume is perceived to the north-east as a boat — an old reminiscence of Lake Fucino, now dried up — stranded in the city fabric, or moored between the modern canals represented by the street grid. The bow is identified to the east, by a diagonal beam/frame, in close correlation with the Cathedral and the view of it from the attic terrace, creating an ideal connection between the Bell Tower and the double height of the living room.
