House in the Vineyards III

Best Implemented Project of Private Residence
About the project (provided by the applicant)
In one of the last agricultural areas surviving the expansion of the City of Bolzano (Italy), on an ancient site embraced by vineyards of Cabernet, stands a traditional rural structure with a steeply sloping roof and thick lime-washed walls, reminiscent of the typical farmhouses of the South Tyrolean plain.
blueArch Architects, took on the stimulating challenge posed by the client: to redesign their ancestral home without altering its essence. The goal was to preserve its typological identity and memory while updating its features to create a contemporary, sustainable, and comfortable living space.
With a radical horizontal cut, blueArch separates the two parts of the building: the original section, with its vernacular and traditional elements, and the upper section, featuring a bold contemporary design, characterized by black timber and metal cladding, thin and sharp beams, and large windows interspersed in a formal and daring interplay between the New Languages and the Traditions.
