Best Design Project for Library
About the project (provided by the applicant)
This library is located in Tabriz, one of the coldest cities in Iran. The primary goal of this project is to design a sustainable library that serves as an exemplar of sustainable construction for students while providing them with a comfortable space for studying and socializing. Accordingly, the design incorporates various passive and active strategies not only to reduce energy consumption but also to generate energy. The building's compact form, with an east-to-west orientation, contributes to energy efficiency and ensures ample daylight for various spaces. Additionally, the designed greenhouse provides warm air as a heat source, simultaneously the study spaces are filled with natural light. Other sustainable strategies include an atrium, PV panels, sun tubes to provide light for underground spaces, and double-skin facades. These combined elements make a model for sustainable design while offering an inviting environment for students to thrive.
