Project
Interior design for a public library in Kirovsk
Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The authors of the proposal are sure that today’s library isn’t just a place where books are stored. It is a multifunctional media domain. As Kirovsk was once built as an industrial town, it has got lots of Soviet heritage within, which can be used to enhance its cultural code and ensure a connection between generations. For the interiors, natural materials, laconic shapes, and lots of symbols were used.
Book archives were complemented with recreation spaces, areas for private and group work, lecture halls, movie rooms, and workshop locations. The entrance group and the surrounding grounds were also redesigned to catch the eye of the new visitors.
