High-speed railway terminal in St. Petersburg

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The concept of preserving the historical Kokorev warehouses and integrating them into the train station inspired one of the complex's main design ideas: like sprouts breaking through to the light, the terminal building rises above the historical setting. Inside, the building's primary structures are designed to resemble the crown of a tree, reaching upwards towards the sun, sheltering the historic buildings beneath.
Approaching from Ligovsky Prospekt, passengers first enter one of the preserved red brick warehouses. From there, they ascend into a light, modern concourse with an expressive roof and column design.
The exterior of the station takes on a more restrained approach: the main terminal volumes are set deep within the site, hardly visible from outside. Only the graceful silhouette of the street canopies, with their curved lines, offers a hint of the dynamic internal spaces that await passengers.
