Best Implemented Restoration
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The comprehensive restoration works at the 54-meters high bell tower continued for three years, and they managed to preserve all the genuine structures of this architectural memorial in the Elizabethan Baroque style.
Built in 1758 to the project by Savva Chevakinsky, it has long been St. Petersburg’s business card. During restoration, many interesting structural facts were discovered, which provided insights into the construction history. The lamp of the bell tower is one of the oldest wooden structures that remain in St. Petersburg, and it was carefully restored, too. The framework of the big and the small domes was repaired, and the original two-meters high cross once manufactured at the Demidov Factory was preserved.
