In 2020, President of the Russian Federation awarded Kazan the rank of the Labor of Merit City. As the federal law dictates, any city honored with such a title shall have a memorial stela.
The stela in Kazan is 26 meters tall, which is like an 8-storey building. Inside, there is a complex frame with stainless steel panels, and the outer panels are perforated to let out red light from the LED system within.
Pylons at the sides hold old photos from the Great Patriotic War.
