About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Kanonersky Maritime Museum, dedicated to civil shipping, shipbuilding, marine logistics and infrastructure, is part of a concept aimed at maximizing the tourist, economic and image potential of Kanonersky Island.
Strategically positioned to enhance the island's seaboard, the museum greets vessels entering the Sea Canal. It is situated near Kanonersky Park, forming part of a continuous route that extends along the seaside promenade. Adjacent to the museum are an exhibition harbor and a ship pier.
The building's design reflects its functions and the nature of the museum’s exhibits. Its main volumes are shell-like structures – either steel cross-rod frameworks supported by pylons and an internal reinforced concrete skeleton or self-supporting. The exterior features tetrahedral surfaces that are either translucent or opaque.
