Project:
Concrete gardens of Ostrogozhsk

Category:
Best Implemented Reconstruction Project

About the project (provided by the applicant):
This is the first Russian post-industrial park.
Today, Russia has got so many dilapidated ruins that remind of its industrial past — abandoned factories, decayed collective farms and so on. People see them as a dump of concrete that should be disposed, which is expensive and environmentally unfriendly. The designers thought one of such sites can be used to arrange a post-industrial park. Remaining concrete structures were used as linear partitions, and the field with concrete foundations was used to design pavilions with a workout zone and an amphitheater. The rest of the site was landscaped to become a park divided into sectors with concrete structures.
