Project:
Ward Number Six

Category:
Best Implemented Theatre Set Design

About the project (provided by the applicant):
The blue wooden pavilion that resembles a coffin occupies all the place on the stage. It has got only one long shelf that holds the protagonist’s books. As the plot unwinds, the books are removed, and the shelf is transformed into a window — with smoke and golden light the other world from behind it penetrates the room. There is no furniture but a single bench in the center.
The doctor’s office isn’t separated from the psychiatric ward, but lots of rusty hospital beds separate the pavilion from the audience. In fact, they are also a field and a cemetery. Patients and doctors are walking in circles between the beds, which makes everything going on at the stage look like Doctor Ragin’s agonal nightmare.
