About the project (provided by the applicant)
About 20 years ago, in 2003, they restored the Amber Room that had been lost during World War II. This petrified wood tar became a symbol of friendship between two major states. The exhibition in the Catherine’s palace invites the visitors to attend this unique room. All of its 100 m² were restored from scratch by a team of renovators led by architect Alexander Kedrinsky. It took 270 specialists about 30 years to design and make every element of this pearl of Russian art. The Amber workshop has always been an integral part of the Amber room, and that’s why the exhibition includes the collective image of the workshop, too.
