Project:
Theater of Doctor Dapertutto
Category:
Best Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project (provided by the applicant):
The Doctor Dapertto Theatre is a state drama theatre in Penza, part of the Meyerhold Theatre Centre, located in the house where director Vsevolod Meyerhold lived between1881 and 1895. The theatre focuses on experimental performances, drawing from Meyerhold's legacy.
Housed in an 1881 wooden building, now the Meyerhold House Museum, the theatre occupies part of what was once a city estate, which included a brick outbuilding where Meyerhold’s sons lived until 1969. A key challenge is that the house is an official cultural heritage site. To create cohesion, the same materials were used for both the façades and the interior design, emphasizing a unified aesthetic.
