Project
Arkhangelsky Bridge – Bridge Crossing Over the Sheksna River
Category
Best Implemented Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project
The new bridge was built as part of the national project «Safe and High-Quality Roads,» becoming the longest bridge crossing over the Sheksna River.
Discussions about building a bridge in Cherepovets date back to the 1980s. The city is located at the intersection of major transportation routes and federal highways leading to Moscow and St. Petersburg, making an additional crossing a necessity.
The cable-stayed bridge's pylons are designed in the shape of the letter «H» and are connected to the roadway by numerous steel cables, resembling a harp. The total length of the six-lane crossing is 8,877 meters, with the bridge structure itself measuring 1,132 meters. The height of the pylon supports is 119 meters, and the bridge width is 30.6 meters. Despite its impressive dimensions, the tall supports and slender cables create a sense of lightness and airiness, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal.
Arkhangelsky Bridge connects major city districts, providing residents with a convenient and safe route while becoming a new symbol of Cherepovets.
