Vittorio Panicaldi, an architect and interior designer from Pescara (Abruzzo, Italy), has joined the Jury Panel of the 2025 Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design.

Born in Pratola Peligna, in the province of L'Aquila, Panicaldi graduated in architecture from the Gabriele D'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy. After working for many years in various architectural firms, he began his independent career in 2010 and is registered with the Professional Architects’ Association in Pescara. His portfolio includes numerous projects across Italy and Europe in various sectors, including residential, commercial, hospitality, medical centers, and private villas.

In previous years, Vittorio Panicaldi successfully participated in the Golden Trezzini Awards as a nominee, with several of his works winning certificates for outstanding achievements. The Loft in Pescara interior (the “Best Implemented Apartment / Private House Interior Design Project” category) reached the top three and received a Finalist Certificate in the 2024 Awards. That same year, the interior of the Dental Center of Doctor Guido Calabrese was awarded a Gold Certificate in the “Best Implemented Interior Design Project for Public Space” category, and Villa Paola received a Silver Certificate in the “Best Project of Private Residence” category. In the 2023 records, there are Honourable Mention certificates for Sadovaya 46 villa “Best Project of a Private Residence” category) and Di Loreto's Apartment (in the “Best Implemented Apartment / Private House Interior Design Project” category), as well as a Special Mention Certificate for Palazzone's Residence (in the “Best Project of Residential or Mixed-Use Estate” category).

“It is an honour for me to serve as a judge for the esteemed Golden Trezzini Awards. I look forward to reviewing and scoring nominations from talented architects and designers worldwide. It will be truly inspiring to witness their new vision and groundbreaking ideas,” Panicaldi said.

The International Golden Trezzini Awards recognize outstanding contributions to architecture as an art form. Established in 2018, the Awards are named after Domenico Trezzini (1670–1734), the Swiss-born first architect of St. Petersburg, who created masterpieces such as the Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Twelve Collegia building in the Petrine Baroque style. The main prize, the gilded Domenico Trezzini statuette, has earned the nickname “Architectural Oscar” and is highly coveted by nominees worldwide.

The Golden Trezzini Awards are the world's only annual international competition where winning projects become part of a museum collection, ensuring their legacy in the history of architecture and design. Selected by more than 230 jury experts from 35 countries, these outstanding projects are added to the holdings of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg and showcased in an annual exhibition titled “Architecture as Art”.

The International Council of the Awards is chaired by Mikhail Piotrovsky, General Director of the State Hermitage Museum. Council members include Lord Norman Foster and Lady Elena Ochoa Foster, artist Emilia Kabakov, and renowned architects Santiago Calatrava, Daniel Libeskind, Mario Botta, and Massimiliano Fuksas. The Council also includes representatives from the State Russian Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, the Fondation Louis Vuitton, various European art museums, and diplomatic authorities from Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Israel, the UAE, Mexico, Egypt, and Syria.

The international jury panel of the Awards promotes 'architectural diplomacy'—a unique approach to people-to-people diplomacy based on the idea that creative connections among professionals in architecture and related fields can thrive regardless of the political situation. This approach is guided by the Awards' motto, “Architecture as Art”.

Award categories span the breadth of architectural creativity, including completed and conceptual projects in design and construction, restoration and reconstruction, exhibition and set design, public space and interior design, student projects, volumetric arts, and architectural ceramics.

Since its inception, the Awards have attracted more than 5,100 projects from 113 countries, with winners from 29 countries between 2018 and 2024.

The 8th Golden Trezzini International Awards are accepting submissions from February 17 until September 17. Participation is free of charge, and the 2025 laureates will be honored on November 21 at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
