About the project (provided by the applicant)
The GreenCare Hospital is a public healthcare facility designed for Chad, emphasizing sustainability, functionality, and healing through architecture. Developed by DDUD (Design et Développement Urbain Durable), the project integrates green architecture principles with modern materials to create a resilient, energy-efficient, and climate-responsive building. The design includes natural ventilation, solar energy systems, water-saving technologies, and green courtyards that enhance patient recovery and staff well-being. Rooted in local context yet forward-thinking, the hospital blends contemporary aesthetics with environmentally responsible strategies to meet pressing healthcare needs in a rapidly urbanizing region. The project represents a new model for health infrastructure in Sub-Saharan Africa—one that prioritizes human dignity, environmental stewardship, and architectural innovation.
