About the project
Derbent is the oldest town in Russia, and Magaly is the oldest part of Derbent, featuring residential sections in its historic center.

Compact location between two fortification walls defined the dense development and the intricate network of winding lanes, typical for a Middle-Age Oriental city.

The project provides for preservation of the historical heritage of the UNESCO listed site: arrangement of pedestrian trails, beautification and landscaping of public sites, development of new use scenarios, and retaining of the existing ones.

Design solutions reflect historical development of the city, from tranquil archaic streets of Verkhnye Magaly to bustling streets of the lower part of the district.

The project was developed in 2018, and its Stage I is expected to be finished in December 2019.
