Alexander Klar (*1968) studied art history, history and archaeology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen and holds a PhD in Art History. He has worked at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York (1997), at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice (2001), at the Kunsthalle in Emden (2002 — 2004) and at the Victoria and Albert Museums in London. From 2008 to 2010 he served as Founding Director of the Emil-Schumacher-Museum in Hagen. From 2010 to 2019 he was Director of the Museum Wiesbaden. Since August 2019 he is Director of the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
