About the project
The set is a small metal structure: two translucent rooms with a web of wires around them, forming cells. It’s a metaphor. The cells represent two parallel worlds, tightly adjacent to each other, but show zero interaction. Two lives with two different destinies are locked inside. Both people exist in their own time. One of the rooms is occupied by a modern writer stuck in a creative slump. The other accommodates a thirteen-year-old girl Nina in besieged Leningrad.
The wires and ropes carry crumpled paper sheets. The actors crawl through the wires, make things from the ropes (for example, a noose), tear them, etc., thus generating particular associations. Light is also an important part of the set.
