About the project
The fortress ruins stand at a generous natural site, neighboring on the ocean and the sky. The authors didn’t want to disturb this environment much but wanted to highlight it. The vertical dominant restores the missing watchtower and works as a sight-seeing point. The horizontal corridor runs through the rock and offers a stunning vista of the ocean. Both volumes are connected with the underground exhibition space. The project is designed as a path through the ruins, bringing ground, sea, history and nature together.
