About the project
This is a staged performance of Leonid Andreyev’s ‘Yekaterina Ivanovna’. How does a respectable wife and mother become a Messalina of today and casts her prudence to the wind? Is it her revenge on her husband for his unjust accusations or her will to live a life to its full? The artistic solution puts the audience within the theater — they spend the first act at the stage, and then move to the viewer seats to see things from another perspective. No detailed interiors here — only slight hints alluding to the era when Leonid Andreyev lived and worked.
