Project
Prutkov Pond Hotel
Category
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project
The hotel is designed on the site of the ex Hallmark Chamber in the center of St. Petersburg — today, there is a natural pond there. The author of the project believes that even a ruined building has its way – deprived of its form it has got the absence of the form. The design concept presents a story about the Prutkov Pond. Here, three stages of any architecture coexist: destruction — renovation — catharsis.
The preserved facade wall symbolizes the first of them. Its supports are used as a sight-seeing and walking platform. The second stage is featured as the succession between the old and the new. The new hotel partially repeats the shape of the Hallmark Chamber. The catharsis is the space getting new features and being harmonious with the development context.
