Project
Tautos Namai: reconsidering the project of Lithuanian Palace of Nations
Category
Best Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project
The tender concept of the Palace of Nations included some symbols that got new meaning in 2022. This often happens when you do arts and architecture. The original design was about developing Ladovsky’s parable as a graphic image. The seven-pointed star above the roof and expressive pylon ribs were a reference to armors and helms that knights of the Lithuanian Host used. However, today Lithuania is about the American democracy, so the seven-pointed star is a direct reference to the crown worn by the Statue of Liberty.
