About the project
The Project is in the southern head of the Bicentenario Park, located in the Vitacura borough, Santiago, Chile.
Our proposal is centered in responding to its context and the concepts of efficiency and sustainability, guiding both the architectural and landscaping design. In architecture we propose a building integrated naturally with its near and distant surroundings by creating another topography of the park where it’s located. This topography is reinforced by the attributes of the landscape proposal, as it generates a multicycle and multilayer system with fast dynamics. Therefore, taking advantage of the rainwater infiltration system with species adapted to Santiago’s mediterranean ecosystem, allowing an everchanging tone variety with each season. The NuMu is a habitable topography, both on its roof and interior, which interacts with the community like an open plaza. It is a place of meeting and exchange, a place of learning and appreciation of our own cultural heritage.

Applicant and authors of the project
Cazú Zegers Arquitectura outlines a different take towards architecture. She searches for an expressive architecture, closely related to Chile and Latin America, its territory, landscape and traditions. Therefore, the work developed by the firm is not designed to be a “finished work” but a “work in progress” that involves a poetic reflection about the way we inhabit the territory. We are a creative ecosystem with 30 years of practice using architectural methodology to solve problems of various kinds.
