About the project
The scenic design for the performance staged to Nikolay Gogol’s ‘Marriage’ features a labyrinth — or a wall of carpets. The only escape for poor Podkolesin is the hole in them. At the carpets, one can see drawings made by the author himself, as well as symbols of the era of Nicholas the First. They are designed as worn out spots on the carpets.
At the stage, the entire world of Gogol’s imagination stands right there before the audience.
