Category

About the project
The ex Synagogue in Tomsk is a special wooden architecture memorial that hardly has any equivalents found across the globe. Built in 1907 to be project by Langer, it was listed in 2012. After a thorough survey in 2022,
they decided to restore it with the fragment method. The proposal includes dismounting of low-value later layers, to open original door and window openings, to restore the elements and domes lost, and to recover both the synagogue room and the fence with its gates. According to the author, the memorial can become a museum of the Tomsk-based Jewish community.
