2021 Golden Trezzini Awards: applications closed

On October 1, entry acceptance for the 4th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design was closed.

Architects, designers, renovators, scene designers and students from five continents of the world and 80 countries, which hit the record, applied to take part in the Awards in 2021. For the second year in a row, the number of entries exceeds 800. On the eve of its 5th birthday the contest named after St. Petersburg’s first architect — Domenico Trezzini — clears the new height.

The Arrangements Committee for the Awards will announce the finalist shortlist compiled by the Qualification Committee on October 20. Finalist projects will be evaluated by the international jury that will decide a winner in each of the basic nominations. After the jury completes its proceedings, Borenius legal company — the auditor for the Awards — will audit the voting results. Winners of the Awards will be announced on November 15, 2021. On the same day, winners and prizetakers will be awarded at a gala ceremony in St. Petersburg.

“This year we’ve been most surprised that not only Russian applicants but the ones from abroad put their entry submission until the very last moment, and this seems to have nothing to do with a specific country, be it USA, Italy, India or Iran. A lion’s share of applications arrived just a few days before the deadline,” says Pavel Chernyakov, Chairman of the Golden Trezzini Arrangements Committee. “It will take several days for the Arrangements Committee to check if this ‘tenth wave’ of entries complies with the Awards Regulations. After that they will be posted to the web-site. Working with such amount of data might be challenging, but the Golden Trezzini team is endlessly thankful to everybody who sent their projects!”

Applications for the 5th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design will be open in Q1 2022.

The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design are named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), Russian architect of Swiss origin, the first architect of St. Petersburg. The main objective of the Awards is turning the most artistically valuable architectural, design, restoration, scenography, and exhibition projects into museum objects. The Honorary Chairman of the International Council for the Golden Trezzini Awards is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club and General Director of the State Hermitage. The best projects by competitors will be added to the collection of the Architectural Graphics Fund at the Museum of St. Petersburg History and take part in an annual exhibition.
