The International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design welcomes renowned set designer Evgeny Nikonorov to its jury. Nikonorov, a previous Golden Trezzini laureate for Best Implemented Theatre Set Design, brings his expertise to evaluate submissions in the 2025 competition.
“Serving on the Golden Trezzini jury is both an honor and a significant responsibility,” says Nikonorov. “I look forward to contributing to the awards' development and applying my expertise to assess contestants' works, particularly in theatre set design.”
Nikonorov graduated from the Interior Design Department at the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, where he studied under Oleg A. Sheyntsis, chief designer of the Lenkom Theatre. His professional journey includes roles as production designer at the Mayakovsky Theatre (1997—1999) and chief designer of the «Debut Center» at the A.A. Yablochkina Central House of Actors and Moscow Debuts Theatre Festival (1999—2005). He maintains an active teaching career alongside his design work.
With more than 80 productions to his credit across Moscow, Russia, and international venues, Nikonorov has established himself as a distinctive voice in theatrical design, known for bold creativity and deep artistic understanding.
The Golden Trezzini Awards, presented annually by the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club, celebrates architecture as art. Named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), St. Petersburg's first architect and creator of the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the awards recognize excellence in architectural design and innovation.
State Hermitage Museum General Director Mikhail Piotrovsky chairs the Awards International Council. The jury comprises over 200 experts from 34 countries, including architects, designers, art historians, and museum directors.
The theatre jury section features prominent designers including Eduard Kochergin (Chief Designer, Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theatre in St Petersburg), Alexander Borovsky-Brodsky, Ivan Milyaev, Emil Kapelyush, Yuri Kharikov, Viktor Shilkrot, and theatre critic Pavel Rudnev.
The eighth season of the Golden Trezzini Awards opens for submissions on February 17, 2025, at https://www.goldtrezzini.org. Winners will be announced at the State Hermitage Museum in November 2025. Entry is free, and winning works become part of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg's permanent collection.
