About the Awards
The International Golden Trezzini Awards were established in 2018 in honor of Domenico Trezzini (1670–1734), the first architect of St. Petersburg. The awards are organized by the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club. The motto of the awards is «Architecture as Art,» with the top prize being a gilded Domenico Trezzini statuette.

The awards annually recognize outstanding contributions to architecture as art and promote the development of «architectural diplomacy» — a unique form of “people-to-people” diplomacy. The idea is that creative communications between representatives of professions that are related to architecture from different countries should be preserved at all times, regardless of the political situation.

The Honorary Chairman of the International Council of the Awards is Mikhail Piotrovsky, General Director of the State Hermitage Museum. The International Council and the jury consist of over 200 experts from 33 countries, including renowned architects, restorers, designers, as well as professionals from various fields of science, culture, education, business, and government officials, along with heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices from eight countries.

A unique feature of the Golden Trezzini Awards is its official museum status. The winning projects are exhibited at the «Architecture as Art» exhibition at the Peter and Paul Fortress each year and added to the state museum collection. Thus, St. Petersburg not only hosts the awards ceremony but also serves as a center for the preservation and study of contemporary global architecture. This strengthens cultural ties between nations and fosters the exchange of experience in the fields of architecture and design.
