The International Council of the Golden Trezzini Awards has been joined by Norman Foster, Lord Foster of Thames Bank OM, Executive Chairman of Foster and Partners, President of the Norman Foster Foundation, and Elena Ochoa Foster, Lady Foster of Thames Bank, Founder and CEO of Ivorypress, Vice President of the Norman Foster Foundation.
“Getting the support of Norman Foster and Elena Ochoa Foster is a great success for Golden Trezzini,” says Pavel Chernyakov, chairman of the Awards Organizing Committee. “Today, there are quite many names in the architecture that we can call stellar, but the name of Sir Norman Foster has a special place. Perhaps it was he who at one time became the standard of the contemporary innovative architect changing the image of the city — be it London, Berlin or Hong Kong. It is a role model that inspires young architects around the world. Together with Norman Foster, we invited to the Awards International Council his wife Elena Ochoa Foster, art curator and founder of the famous publishing house Ivorypress, which specializes in the genre of artist's book and is also known for its significant educational activities. Architecture and art form a synergy in the Foster union — just as they coexist in the Golden Trezzini motto – Architecture as Art.”
After graduating from Manchester University School of Architecture and City Planning in 1961, Norman Foster received a Henry Fellowship to Yale University, where he was a fellow of Jonathan Edwards College and gained a Master’s Degree in Architecture. In 1967 he established Foster Associates, which has since evolved into Foster + Partners, where he continues as Executive Chairman. He became the 21st Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate in 1999 and was awarded the Praemium Imperiale Award for Architecture in Tokyo in 2002. In 2009, he became the 29th Laureate of the prestigious Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts and was awarded the Knight Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1997, he was appointed by the Queen of the United Kingdom to the Order of Merit and in 1999 was honoured with a peerage, taking the title of Lord Foster of Thames Bank.
Elena Ochoa Foster is a publisher and curator. She founded Ivorypress in 1996, ever since she has been holding the title of CEO and Founder. As a patron, she supports a variety of museums and foundations and collaborates with several international schools of contemporary art and photography. She has served as Chair of the Tate Galleries International Council and as Trustee of the Tate Foundation as well of the Isamu Noguchi Foundation. She is currently the Chair of the Council of the Serpentine Galleries in London. Elena Ochoa Foster was a tenured Professor at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid for almost two decades. She was a Fulbright Scholar and researcher in several universities in the United States and Europe.
