• When and where were the Awards founded? The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design were established in 2018 in St Petersburg, Russia. This year marks the 7th edition of the Awards.
• Who is behind the Awards? The Awards are held with the support of various organizations including the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club, the Embassy of Switzerland in Russia, the Mayor’s Office of Lugano, Switzerland, The State Hermitage Museum, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
• For whom are the Awards named? The Awards are named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), a Russian architect of Swiss origin, who was the first architect of St. Petersburg and the author of several masterpieces of Petrine Baroque.
• Why Golden? The top prize is a gilded statuette of Domenico Trezzini, hence the name ‘Golden’.
• What makes it unique? The Awards offer a unique opportunity for the winners’ work to be included in a state museum collection and become part of architectural and design history.
• Who are the judges? The jury panel comprises more than 200 experts from 33 countries, including renowned architects like Lord Norman Foster, Santiago Calatrava, Daniel Libeskind, Mario Botta, and Massimiliano Fuksas.
• Who can participate? Architects, interior designers, restorers, set designers, exhibition designers, and architecture students are invited to apply at https://www.goldtrezzini.ru/en/2024application/.
• What about categories? There are 18 main and 5 special categories, including the People’s Choice Award.
• And deadlines? Applications close on September 15, 2024, and the ceremony will be held on November 15, 2024, at the State Hermitage Museum. Winners who can’t attend the event in person will receive their awards by mail.
• Is there a time requirement for project submissions? Submitted projects must have been designed (or implemented) after January 1, 2022.
• What does it cost to enter? The Awards are free to enter.
