On December 4, 2024, the Organizing Committee of the International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design held a professional meeting for architects and interior designers. The event was organized in partnership with the Kubatura Furniture and Interior Center and Natuzzi Editions.
Experts gathered for the discussion were invited to engage in visioning and forecasting for the upcoming year. The event, titled “Interior 2025: Key Trends for the Year Ahead”, took place at the panoramic Jack London restaurant on the top floor of the Kubatura Center in St Petersburg.
The participants were welcomed by Aleksandra Nikonova, Director of the Kubatura Furniture and Interior Center; Anna Okladnikova, Director of Okaniya, the official Natuzzi dealer in St. Petersburg; and Pavel Chernyakov, Chairman of the Golden Trezzini Awards Organizing Committee.
A Look at the Program
The business session began with a presentation by trend analyst and New School of Design and Art professor Tatyana Petrova. Drawing insights from the iconic Maison & Objet 2024 interior design exhibition, she highlighted a unique trend in contemporary design that blends cosmic motifs with a longing for primitivism and craftsmanship. She termed this paradoxical trend “archaic futurism” and forecasted its significant influence in 2025.
Artemy Sharonov, Chief Architect and Head of the b612 architectural bureau, delivered a presentation titled “The Trend of Triumph: How to Succeed in Architecture and Design Competitions Using the Golden Trezzini Awards as an Example”. In November, b612's project “An architect’s home” won in the “Best Implemented Apartment/Private House Interior Design” category. Mr. Sharonov shared the concept behind this countryside home, which earned the gilded Domenico Trezzini statuette. Its foundation lies in biophilic design principles, the seamless integration of interior and nature, and the incorporation of cultural codes into the décor. The result is a thoughtful, meaningful interior free from random elements — a design that captivated the jury's attention.
Anastasia Postnikova, co-founder of the interior design studio In2design, discussed current trends in the use of light and color in interiors, illustrating her talk with completed studio projects. Her conclusion: in today's interiors, color can be successfully integrated anywhere. From lavender kitchens to golden tiles, red windowsills, and timeless black-and-white combinations, there's a place for it all.
Maria Ivanova, Head of FullHouseDesign, explored the emergence of a luxurious national trend in Russia centered on “new estates”. Drawing on her experience designing large country houses, Ms. Ivanova demonstrated how the functional space divisions characteristic of 18th-19th century Russian estates remain highly relevant and adaptable to modern needs, with great demand among clients and prospects for further development.
Finally, artist and designer Sergey Savateev introduced the audience to the world of design with neural networks. Mr. Savateev expressed confidence in the enormous potential of neural design, predicting it will drive the evolution of creative professions. He showcased his own projects created with the help of neural networks, which included not only interior visualizations but also sketches of theater costumes and completed sculptures.
As part of the program, the floor was given to Anna Lavrentieva, head of the design department at the Kubatura Furniture and Interior Center, who spoke about the plans of the Kubatura design club Design3 for 2025 as well as key events and collaborations of the direction in 2024.
The meeting was moderated by Oleg Dmitriev. After the discussion, partners organized a gift giveaway for the guests.
