Projects for Abu Dhabi and Italy by Mask Architects nominated for the Golden Trezzini Awards

2020 Golden Trezzini Honourable Mention certificate holders are back for the competition in 2021 with new projects.

Two projects by Mask Architects studio (Turkey-Italy) are nominated for the Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design in 2021.

Oasys + System, the artificial breathing palm modular structure system, designed in 2020 for Abu Dhabi, the UAE, participates in the “Best Project of Public Building or Facility” category.

“We acknowledge the need for such spaces in our developing societies to be created to protect outdoor lifestyle during the months of the year in which the heat becomes unbearable,” Öznur Pınar Çer and Danilo Petta of Mask Architects explain, “As Abu Dhabi seeks to grow and develop its vibrant and diverse city further, it is important that we must have such systems for the growing industries such as tourism, education, finance, and cultural centers. Our outdoor thermal comfort system installment is important to public and private spaces that will see the ease of threat and the dangers of climate change to urban development and society. The Oasys is an oasis space that is constructed from modules of palm tree-like structures that will be the main function of the system. It will have such functions as spraying mist through nozzles that underlay the palms, as well as collect solar energy through solar panels on the roof of the palms. The structure will act as a barrier from regional and environmental issues such as heat, UV rays, and noise.”

Another nominated project is Villa G01, new generation luxury villa in Sardinia, Italy (“Best Project of Private Residence” category, designed in 2020).

Öznur and Danilo have aimed to ensure the sustainability of the existing texture by combining the inspiration they draw from the architectural texture of Sardinian works of Jacques Cuelle with their own architectural style and the birth of this old-new combination with today's technology. Their aim is to realize a design using a local architectural style that is organic, having natural textures, using local materials but not the same used before. The villa designed by them is re-characterized harmoniously with the existing local architecture style using environmental opportunities. The villa is not only carrying your daily routine lifestyle but also “Villa G01” for them should give you inspiration and remind you of your memories about the experiences. It generates an atmosphere of slow, laid-back summer living, encouraging mindful connection with family, friends and the freedom to exist peacefully in nature.

Mask Architects already participated in 2020 Golden Trezzini competition. The studio was awarded an Honourable Mention certificate for their remarkable Photographic Art Museum project, created for Seoul, South Korea.

In 2021, the Golden Trezzini website users are more than welcome to vote for their preferred projects via Facebook, giving them a chance to win special Premio del Pubblico Award.

The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design are named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), Russian architect of Swiss origin, the first architect of St. Petersburg. The motto of the Awards is 'Architecture as Art'. The Domenico Trezzini gilded statuettes are awarded to the authors of architectural and designer projects that amount to works of art. The Honorary Chairman of the International Council for the Golden Trezzini Awards is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the World Club of St. Petersburgers and General Director of the State Hermitage.

2021 Golden Trezzini Awards winners will be awarded in November during the Gala-Night at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. The best projects by competitors will be added to the collection of the Architectural Graphics Fund at the Museum of St. Petersburg History and take part in an annual exhibition at the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Entries are open till October 1 at https://www.goldtrezzini.ru/en/application2021/. Nominees from all over the world are invited. More than 160 projects from 40+ countries have been already accepted. Participation is free of charge.
