Architect, artist and theorist Anton Glikin has joined the jury of the 9th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design. Anton Glikin, PhD in Philosophy, is founder and head of the Anton Glikin Studio, and ideologist of the “New Aestheticism” movement that has united masters of various stylistic directions. At the heart of Glikin’s creative method is attention to style, proportion and expressive detailing in both traditional and contemporary architecture. His studio creates private residences, public spaces, monuments and objects of sacred architecture in Russia and the USA. Among his landmark realised projects are the Monument to the Athletes of the World (1996–1997) and the Millennium Gate Triumphal Arch (2008) in Atlanta, as well as churches, chapels and liturgical interiors in Russia.

“Contemporary architectural education is a global fake and a waste of time,” believes Anton Glikin. “It rejects classical architecture — the foundation of any form-making. It is like teaching a swimmer without technique, a composer without classical harmonies, an artist without anatomy. Knowledge liberates, while the present system is the shackles of tastelessness and helplessness. Frank Gehry called 95% of contemporary architecture wretched, yet remained silent about the cause — vicious training. The way out is to leave one or two schools in the whole world, close the rest and recreate them from a clean slate.”

The International Golden Trezzini Awards recognise outstanding contribution to the development of architecture under the motto “Architecture as Art.” It is the only architecture and design award in the world whose winners’ projects enter a state museum collection — the holdings of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg.

The organiser of the Awards is the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club. The International Council is headed by the President of the Club and Director General of the State Hermitage Museum, Mikhail Piotrovsky. Competition entries are evaluated by more than 200 experts from 35 countries.

The acceptance of applications for participation in the ninth season of the Award closed on 15 September. The projects are currently being reviewed by the Quolification Committee.

The solemn awards ceremony for the winners will take place on 20 November 2026 at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
