Artistic Director of the Russian State Theatre “Satirikon” named after Arkady Raikin, People’s Artist of Russia Konstantin Raikin has joined the International Council of the Golden Trezzini International Awards for Architecture and Design. In 2026, the awards are being presented for the ninth time.

Golden Trezzini is the only architectural award in the world in which theatrical set designs are evaluated as independent works of art: the jury considers them in a special category, “Best Implemented Theatre Set Design.”

“The participation of Konstantin Raikin in the activities of the International Council underlines the importance of a living dialogue between theatre and architecture,” noted Pavel Chernyakov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Awards. “It offers an opportunity to view the architectural dimension of theatre from a new angle — to see stage space not merely as a backdrop, but as an independent dramaturgical environment.”

The Awards are named after Domenico Trezzini, the first architect of St. Petersburg, and are given for projects in which architecture and art form an inseparable whole. Interest in scenography is a natural continuation of this concept: the artistic value of an environment does not depend on whether it is created on the scale of a city or confined within the space of a stage.

The gala ceremony for the laureates of the 9th Golden Trezzini International Awards for Architecture and Design will take place on 20 November 2026 at the State Hermitage Museum.
