Restoration of the Old Chalet in Pavlovsk Park Nominated for the 9th Golden Trezzini Awards

The project “Restoration of the Old Chalet in Pavlovsk Park” has been officially nominated for the 9th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design. The project is entered in the category: Best Project Implemented in the Traditions of the Leningrad School of Restoration.

The Old Chalet Pavilion, built in 1780, is one of the earliest structures in the Pavlovsk Palace and Park Ensemble. Characteristic of Enlightenment-era parks, this “rustic hut” in the pastoral spirit featured a thatched roof and contained a richly decorated hall painted by the artist A.F.G. Viollier.

The monument was destroyed during the Nazi occupation of Pavlovsk. Its restoration has always been one of the museum’s most important tasks. In 1964, the 9th Workshop of Lenproekt, led by prominent Leningrad restoration architects S.V. Popova-Gunich and E.N. Petrova, developed a restoration project that could not be implemented at the time.

Comprehensive restoration and reconstruction work on the monument and the adjacent park area was carried out in 2024–2025. The patron of the restoration was PJSC NK Rosneft, and the project was implemented by Konevskie Restoration Workshops LLC. The work became a direct continuation of the traditions of the Leningrad restoration school, which emerged during the post-war recovery. Today, the Children’s Practical School of Gardening and Horticulture operates here.

The Organizing Committee of the 9th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design accepts applications until 15 September. Projects from any country are eligible, and participation is free. The laureates will be announced on 20 November 2026 at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

Golden Trezzini is the only architecture and design awards in the world whose winning projects enter the state museum collection.
