Project
2030 Academic Library: A Journey to the Future
Category
Best Design Project for Library
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The library is a response to a new studying lifestyle where students can collaborate and enjoy their time. The main approach is to have a welcoming futuristic library that attracts students and offers various learning styles. The concept is inspired by a journey to the Future, the form takes inspiration from infinity and acts as a “Golden Gate” taking students to the future, The plan layout also follows the Fibonacci ratio and the hierarchy of spaces goes from noisiest (down) to the most quiet ones (top). Another main goal is respecting nature so a piloti is formed to protect trees and meanwhile form a plaza where students can gather up to explore collaborative activities. The Fibonacci Hall also is a dynamic fluid space that allows students to conduct various activities from studying individually to group activities or even holding exhibitions. The library’s quiet space is on the second floor where students have access to books, rooms for group studying, and a computer lab.
