This house on the Volga offers a freedom unattainable in the city. Three tall living units (kitchen-living room, master bedroom, children's rooms) are oriented solely toward the river or garden, connected by a hallway with a large final window. The street-facing facade is closed, while the house is open to the water.
Finishings include dark porcelain tiles for utility areas and larch shingles for the living spaces. The shingles resemble the scales of a river fish. To compensate for the northern orientation, the rooms feature skylights in the roofs. From the shore, the house resembles a fisherman's hut with pitched roofs—an image resonant with the owners, who value the water. The architecture and interior are designed as a unified whole for a new quality of life.
