About the project (provided by the applicant)
'Ananda' by 23DC Architects, led by Ar. Shiv Dada and Ar. Mohit Chawla, is a modern residence in Amritsar, Punjab, spread over 1 acre. Designed to blend contemporary aesthetics with Indian elements, it embodies tranquility and a seamless connection with nature. The client's vision of integrating all five elements—air, water, fire, earth, and sky—is reflected in open spaces, serene water bodies, earthy landscapes, and a cozy firepit. Central to the design is a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, expansive windows, and hidden courtyards, fostering surprise and exploration. The highlight is a central courtyard featuring a Buddha statue, a firepit, and a soothing water body. Minimal Indian detailing, like intricately carved columns and Jali-patterned wooden louvers, adds cultural depth. Materials like clay tiles and marble enhance authenticity. The residence offers a resort-like ambiance while ensuring privacy, with hidden driveways and serene surroundings.
