Nomination

About the project
The project includes renovation of a water tower near the Leningrad railway station. The building, which is an architectural monument, was built in 1851. Today, its interior and exterior are very different from the original ones. The project proposes to restore them and convert the tower into an art space and a cultural dominant of the area. Inside the tower there is an exhibition space, the additions contain an entrance and a cafe, and the courtyard is designed for open air exhibitions, lectures, and festivals.

The project aims to draw attention to the inconspicuous industrial architecture, to show its value and uniqueness, along with its capacity to be converted for modern use.
