About the project (provided by the applicant) The total area of the museum building is 16,300 sq.m., with 6.2 ha allocated for the outdoor exhibition.
The National Museum of Civil Aviation of Russia is designed to display aviation monuments of science and technology, as well as aircraft components, models, and mock-ups. The outdoor exhibition features airplanes and helicopters.
The main volume of the museum building houses permanent and temporary exhibitions and a delegation hall. The museum has three floors with a total height of 14 m.
At the center of the building’s volumetric composition is a concise parallelepiped, whose upper levels are decorated with modern perforated metal structures. Architectural solutions with exposed engineering systems emphasize the technical nature of the exhibition and contain allusions to the structural elements of the earliest airplanes.
