The private house project is located in Mangutay settlement, Irkutsk Region, near Lake Baikal. The building’s form and layout are determined by the region’s high solar potential and proximity to water resources. Thanks to a record number of sunny days per year, the house operates on a “zero-cycle” principle. Electricity is generated by a set of solar photovoltaic panels integrated into the south-facing roof slope, with an angle optimized for maximum solar radiation absorption throughout the year.
The house also features a rainwater collection system that directs runoff into underground reservoirs for subsequent technical use. The architecture follows eco-design principles, blurring the line between interior and exterior through panoramic windows oriented toward the water and surrounding forest. The façade, made from a single material, further emphasizes contemplation of the site’s natural beauty.
