Project
Baron Munchausen’s Adventures in Russia

Category

Best Implemented Project of Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition

About the project (provided by the applicant)

This exhibition presents the biographic facts from real Munchausen’s life (this man served in Russia in 1738 through 1750) and some of the stories about adventures of the same-named famous fictitious character. Many of the historic facts told to the audience match the stories described in the books, but some real events seem to be even more fantastic than the invented tales.

Having arrived at the exhibition, visitors find themselves traveling through chapters of the book. Here, historic exhibits and documents are combined with the illustrative approach to interior design. In terms of aesthetics, the exhibition features ancient books, manuscripts and scrolls, whereas installations blur the borders between reality and the world of book fancy.
