Military settlements are a unique type of barracks complex that existed from 1815 to 1856. The choice of design solutions for preserving these settlements depends on the location of the complex, its state of preservation, and the level of protection. Engineering conservation, localized reconstruction of ruins, and museification in Selishchi are most appropriate for a federal cultural heritage site and are the most cost-effective for a building located far from the city. An open-air museum will attract tourists from Veliky Novgorod and the surrounding region. Reconstructing the riding hall and placing a physical culture and leisure center in Krechevitsy is the most effective solution for preserving the complex in a remote yet relatively densely populated area of Novgorod.
