About the project (provided by the applicant) “The Bear” is a play about the fate of a man who did not want to be a hero. The protagonist, an ordinary young man named Arthur, lives a normal life in a typical family and faces the same challenges as everyone else. He navigates them as best he can—sometimes clumsily, sometimes unevenly—but always finds a way through even the most difficult situations.
Andrey Timoshenko, director and set designer, says: “I really like that Arthur is a complex character, not hollowed out, not refined. How does a person develop their inner core, how does it harden? It’s a series of actions the hero takes, passing through events, overcoming obstacles, and becoming stronger and stronger…”
The story is based on the real experiences of Arthur, a participant in the Special Military Operation, and served as the foundation for the play “THE BEAR,” written by Sergey Samodov as part of the Meganom Creative Industries Academy laboratory project “Tavrida.ART.” It is based on real events. The premiere took place on February 8, 2025.
