About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project of the synagogue religious complex is located in the center of the Crimean Peninsula, in Simferopol, on an elongated plot along Gurzufskaya Street, with its end facing Lesozavodskaya Street. The complex includes several blocks: administrative, hotel, utility, cultural-exhibition, and educational.
The main façade, clad in wooden panels, features a large six-pointed Star of David. Wood, stone, and unplastered surfaces create a sense of closeness to nature and traditional life. Tall windows and perforations in the façade panels allow soft light into the double-height prayer hall, as well as the cultural-exhibition and educational blocks.
“Beit-Knesset” in Hebrew means “House of Assembly” — a traditional name for a synagogue, emphasizing its role as a center of community life. Unlike a Temple (Beit Ha-Mikdash), a synagogue is not only a place of prayer but also a space for studying the Torah, discussions, and collective decision-making.
