About the project
Sortavala is a town in the north of Karelia that is annually visited by 1+ mln tourists but lacks beautified premises to welcome them.
This proposal includes beautification of the park along the Valkolahti Gulf, accomplishment of the triangular square and reconstruction of the market building, beautification of the linear embankment that connects the two above-mentioned sites, readjustment of the abandoned heat station to use its building as a climbing facility and its chimney as a hotel, reconstruction of the railway track to use it for an eco-tram, and beautification of the square at the Karelskaya railway station.
