Project
Summer Book Alleys at Malaya Konyushennaya Street
Category
Best Implemented Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project
Book Alleys are a set of architecturally designed booths of the summer market not far from the Book House in St. Petersburg. There used to be some really undistinguished stalls here, by Spirin Architects made them a single facility, which was artistically and delicately fit into the existing urban panorama. The centerpiece of the market is a book case of 56 meters long, surrounded by portable tables, stools, and benches intended for reading. A photo-booth and a small amphitheater accomplish this public place.
