Project
Pumproom at Lipetsk Mineral Waters resort

Nomination
Best Implemented Landscaping and Green Beautification Project

About the project
The concept of the pump room combines polysemic structures, such as a pyramid and a memorial arch. The pyramidal shape is a reference to the fact that in Peter the Great’s time the pump room had the form of a tent. In 1824, it was replaced with a new pavilion, which was a replica of Andrea Palladio's Villa Rotunda. The actual pump room’s white marble arch, reminiscent of a Palladian window, only follows the contours of the previous demolished building. The glass pyramid inside the arch contains the drinking well. The interior of the pump room is decorated with a sculpture of Peter the Great and mascarons.
